Today’s visitors made me giggle.
Gone are the days when I could easily point to each goose family and know exactly who belonged to whom. The goslings have grown so much that they now blend together into one long line, waddling through the puddle as if they had all agreed to meet for a late lunch.
The water is low. A layer of algae stretches across much of the surface. By most standards, the puddle isn’t at its best.
Yet they came anyway.
Watching them reminded me that value isn’t determined by perfect conditions. Sometimes a place matters because it has been dependable. It has offered food, safety, familiarity, or simply become part of the rhythm of everyday life.
Our little puddle isn’t perfect today, but it is still enough.
Perhaps people are a little like that too.
We don’t have to be at our best to still have something worth offering. Sometimes simply continuing to show up is enough for those who know the value of a familiar place.
