Yesterday our little puddle sat beneath a heat index of nearly 124 degrees. It wasn’t a day for thriving. It wasn’t a day for showing off. It was a day for making it through.
The birds found shade. The geese stood quietly in the water. Pinecone stretched out wherever the ground was coolest. Even the herons seemed to choose their moments carefully.
Nature reminded me that there are seasons when success isn’t measured by how much we accomplish. Sometimes success is simply making it until tomorrow, when the weather breaks.
We often expect ourselves to flourish every day. Nature doesn’t. It knows there are days meant only for endurance.
And somehow, that’s enough.
