We are picking up little Miss Hollyn for an impromptu visit, which already makes it a pretty wonderful Sunday. It is hard to believe she will be nine years old on the 15th. I’m fairly certain someone has been speeding up the calendar without asking my permission.
And since we will already be out and about, I think we may take a little detour to Lake Red Rock before heading home.
Another puddle.
A considerably larger puddle, but a puddle nonetheless.
There is something kind of perfect about getting to spend an unexpected afternoon with one of my favorite people while wandering somewhere different and seeing what there is to notice.
Different water. Different birds. Different trees. Different sounds.
And maybe a reminder that Behind the Puddle was never really only about our puddle.
It is about paying attention to wherever we happen to be.
So today, Behind the Puddle may be going on a tiny field trip.
With an almost-nine-year-old as my traveling companion.
I have a feeling there will be plenty to notice.
