And apparently, the day was not quite finished with me. Not long after deciding that the birds at the feeders had already been enough, I looked over and caught our visiting hummingbird working its way through the salvia. I turned to grab my phone and, by the time I looked back, it had moved to the fence, where it sat surprisingly still for a few moments before continuing on its way.
I had just deadheaded the salvia, so at the moment it looks a little sad and considerably less impressive than it did a few days ago. Apparently the hummingbird does not share my opinion. Even sad salvia is acceptable.
Maybe there is something worth remembering in that too. Some things do not have to be at their fullest, brightest, or most beautiful to still have something to offer. And some days that already felt like enough decide to give you a little bonus anyway.
