When I set out the cracked corn pan, I thought I knew who it was for.
The geese would come. Maybe a few birds would help themselves. That was the plan.
Then one evening a Taco decided the pan wasn’t a dinner plate at all. It became a chair… or perhaps the coolest seat in the yard.
Not far away, another Taco wandered across the mound of dirt left from leveling the patio. What looked like leftover construction to me looked like fresh opportunity to a rabbit.
Nature has a way of reminding us that we rarely know all the ways something will be used.
Sometimes what we build for one purpose quietly becomes valuable for many others.
Maybe that’s true of places.
Maybe it’s true of people, too.
